Rescuing her

" I know you're not this kind of the girl. Then why are you doing this, you don't have to. If this marriage is forced, back off now , I assure you I will stand by you " whispered Anurag softly but Prerna did not reply anything. She refused to met his eyes and looked away from him.

Anurag was surprised with her actions. Prerna was not a gold digger , this was something he knew from the starting. She had dreams about love then why was she destroying it by getting married to his mama ji?. He was puzzled.
" why is pree getting married to this old man? " he heard anjali asking Suman.
" you're best friend is tired of her middle class life so she took this shortcut " suman replied rudely.
" I don't believe. I know pree she can't agree this with her complete sense. She can't marry this pervert ,the way he was touching her in the occasion of Pooja " anjali spoke only to be ignored by Suman who cared less about her words. Anurag grew more suspicious.

He looked on as anjali went to Prerna and tried to argue with her about the issue and Prerna refusing her firmly.  What had gotten inside this girl. He felt like knocking senses in her.  Why is she hell bent on destroying her own life ?. He tried to enquire with his mother who evaded him from further enquiry. This mother was almost in the verge of convincing him that Prerna was a gold digger but he knew better.

The moment of fury came when he saw his mama ji trying to have his way with prerna while dancing with her. Prerna was feeling humiliated and tried to get away but Naveen was holding her tightly.  Anurag tried to control, he did not want to create a drama in front of everyone and then when his mamaji wrapped his hands around Prerna's waist and was leaning in. Anurag gave away his self resistance and the next moment his mamaji was pushed away from Prerna and he stood in front of prerna.  Prerna was confused with the happening and stood here not able to comprehend anything.
All the guests gasped at the happenings,
" Anurag " his mamaji yelled at him.
" mamaji stay away from my prerna. How dare you touch her? I love her and she is only mine "
" what ?" prerna shrieked. Even anjali gasped at happening.
" Anurag what rubbish are you speaking? " his mother looked frightened.
" mom I love her, even she does. We had a fight few days ago, she was very angry with me but I never knew in her foolishness she would tell yes to mama ji. If I knew mamaji was getting engaged to prerna I would never let this function take place. I love her from all this years " Anurag confessed. He pulled Prerna his side shocking everyone. His mother almost got a heart attack seeing it.3

His father seemed happy and had announced Prerna and Anurag's marriage . The guests left the hall as the function was called off. Naveen was pissed off and angry on Anurag.
" didi you promised me that Prerna will be mine " Naveen reminded mohini of her promise.
" mom I'm not letting Prerna walk away from my life at any cost and you mamaji stay away from prerna otherwise I will forget my
limits " Anurag warned firmly as he dragged a confused prerna to his room without caring about anyone present here.

Mohini basu knew as she watched her son drag the girl protecting her from her jerk brother that she was going to be her daughter in law and if she did not accept this fact she would end up losing her son.

Anurag left Prerna's hand as he entered his room.
" Anurag what did you do? " prerna started as soon as he shut the door.
" saved you from hell " he answered back.
" you just announced to the whole family that you love me so that you can stop me from marrying Naveen babu. Have you gone mad? You know the drama you have done today in front of people, what people could have thought of me? " Prerna yelled at him.
Anurag's eyes began to flare up with anger " when you were sitting with my divorced mamaji down as his to be bride, that time did you think what would have people assumed about you? Now when I am trying to get you out of this, you're worried about people?"

" Anurag I was willingly marrying your mamaji " Prerna confessed.

" you were willing to put  yourself in hell because of 15 lakhs? Your family's one debt will not be paid by your soul Prerna,  you deserve better than this "

" you know " she asked.

" I know " he answered confirming her doubts.

He took out the cheque from his pocket which had fallen down while she was busy dancing with Naveen. One look at the cheque , Anurag had understood the whole conspiracy.

" why ? " she asked him. Why did he save her risking everyone's trust and going against everyone.

" you wished for someone who would love you deeply. I really wanted you to find that someone. I still hope that you will find that someone Prerna. You don't have to worry, I'm here for you. I will request my father to postpone our marriage for two more years still our education gets over. We will find a way to earn that fifteen lakhs in two years and clear the
debt. You don't have to be caged in anything which you don't believe. We will find a way " he assured her.
Prerna was touched by his words.

How can Anurag be the nephew of someone like Naveen?
" Thank you Anurag. Thank you for everything " prerna finally smiled after a long time.
" I'm not so filmy but there is no sorry and thank you in friendship for me. So I'm rejecting your sorry and we have to go down now as our family members will be wondering that what is taking us so long " Prerna was tensed hearing it. She was afraid of the family's reaction. As if Anurag understood her turmoil he gently entwined his fingers into hers and spoke " I'm here ". Prerna nodded her head and walked out of the room with him to face the family. She knew this time she would not have to be afraid, Anurag was there with her. She felt peace with the thought of Anurag being with her.

Prerna looked herself at the mirror. She was wearing the red dress which Anurag had selected for her. There was a party organized in the basu mansion for celebration of Anurag's business success. She was supposed to be here as his fiancee. She smiled slightly remembering how destiny had connected their paths.
Two years before she was acting as his fake fiancee but now she was real . It seemed unbelievable. Who knew that she and Anurag would fall in love with each other while faking the whole drama in front of the family. Even today when she meets her friends and colleagues, they would still question her out of curiosity that how did she and Anurag fell in love?. It looked quite surprising to them to find her and Anurag together. She would smile at their questions and brush them off. Even she did not know the exact moment when she fell in love with Anurag. When she looked back, she still could not pin point one moment when she exactly fell in love with him. Maybe she feel in love with him, when he saved her from his mamaji going against everyone or maybe she feel in love with him when they had got drenched in rain but still managed to sing " ajeeb dastan" song together and he had walked with her till her home.
Maybe the love had bloomed before but realizing and confessing her feelings had taken a really long time. They had been together for two years but it was only few days ago, she realized she loved him and confessed her love.

" Prerna what are you doing
here? "Anurag was surprised seeing her in his house. She had always informed before coming to his house.
" I had come to talk to you Anurag. We are both going to your dad and calling off this fake engagement " she answered him.
" but why? Why all of sudden? Anything happened " he fired her with questions.
" because everything is settled now. I had paid the debt taken by my family to your mother and your mamaji is not troubling me anymore. So there is no need to play any fake engagement games " she answered him honestly looking at him.
" The family are really happy from yesterday especially dad. We will tell this matter later " he tried to brush off the matter.
" They are happy because they are planning for our wedding from yesterday. I had eavesdrop one of my parent's conversation yesterday. It will be only few days before they inform us, so before things get complicated, we better call this off " she explained him.

For a while, Anurag stood here trying to understand and grasp the fact that she said him.
" do you like anyone else or you interested in someone else? " he asked her.
She shook her head negativity " no "
" anyway what is the connection of me liking someone else and we breaking this fake engagement " she asked him irritated.
" then you should not have any problem in marrying me? " he asked her.
" what... Did you say? " she was puzzled. Did Anurag said that she should not have problem with the her marriage with him.

" I'm in love with you Prerna and I want to spend my entire life with
you " Anurag finally confessed to her looking at her intensely. If it was anyother day, she could have laughed off thinking that Anurag was playing some prank on her but one look into his eyes, he seemed really serious.

When? How? How did she not know?. For a second she felt she was dreaming. Like really Anurag loved her and how did she never knew about it?.
Prerna was brought out of her thoughts as Anurag snapped his fingers in front of her. She looked blankly at him still trying to grasp all the things that happened.
" Anurag, I really don't know what to say. I seriously need some time to think about it" she finally said to him.
" I understand " Anurag looked dejected. Maybe he excepted a confession from her but she was in her own turmoil that she did not understand anything.
The next few days she ignored him and avoided meeting him but all she could think of was him. She finally accepted the fact Anurag loved her but when it came to her feelings, she was still confused and was trying to figure out. She would sit thinking for hours about him but still she could not conclude anything. Then one day, her mother had asked her about it,





 





 









" Prerna did you and Anurag had a fight about anything? " her mother asked.
" no maa"

" I was just tensed for nothing. It had been days, since Anurag had not visited our house. Usually he would at least come once in a day and then you look so stressed " her mother said her.

" maa it's nothing like that " she assured her mother.

" I know you and Anurag look so much into love with each other. I was just tensed for nothing "

" maa why do you think that me and Anurag love each other? How can you make out like that? " Prerna asked her mom curious.

" If I tell you the truth, I first could not believe that you both loved each other. I thought Anurag was just saving you from Naveen babu. Then when I saw you once with Anurag when had come home to drop you after college, you both were drenched in rain and were talking freely and preenu you looked so happy whole night. That's when I thought maybe you people were really in love, then Anurag had started coming to our house often either to drop you or help you in studies. He always used to stand by you and never left you alone. Your eyes used to twinkle with happiness when you was with him and you would act as a child with him. Everyone in the family could notice the love you both have. You remember when you got your job in some big multinational company, the first person you rushed to tell the news was Anurag not me or your papa. That day when Anurag came to drop you back with sweets, I noticed his eyes held pride for you and you were top of the world. I put my doubts to rest that day" her mother holds her hands " I'm so happy for you beta that you have some one like Anurag in your life who would always take care of you " Before Prerna could reply anything, her mother had left her room because of her father calling.

After her mother left the room, all Prerna thought about her mother's word. How true were they? In this two years she never realized how Anurag had become the most important person in her life. She still remembered as soon as she got her appointment letter for her dream job, the first person she rushed to give the news was Anurag not her parents. The first thing she brought from her salary was for Anurag and then she thought of her family. Never was never a moment of hers in this two years which did not have any Anurag in it. She like a fool thought they were friends and would remain to be so. She always would get uncomfortable when she saw females in the college showering their attention to Anurag and not to forget the way she used to crib for his attention every other time when any of his mother's friend's daughters tries to flirt with him but all she thought was they were friends.
"Yeah just friends", she felt her own conscience mocking her. If the other day Anurag did not stop with his confession her she could have almost ruined everything for them without realizing but now she finally realized she was in love with him. She was in love with Anurag basu and she felt butterflies in her stomach as she realized it happily.

The next day she entered the basu mansion and was searching for Anurag when she bumped into him. As Anurag holds her, she stared at him dreamily.
It had been days she did not see him all because of her own confusions. Now everything was cleared.
She was brought out of her dreams as anurag snapped his fingers in front of her.
" what are you doing here? " he asked her.
" I actually.... " Prerna bit her lip as she felt shy confessing her feelings to him. She looked down and was fidgeting with her fingers nervously.
" you're here to call off the
engagement? " he asked again sternly.
" no.. I"
" Prerna if you want to call off his engagement, you can't. If you need more time and space you can
take " Anurag cut her off.
" actually I Lov...."
" look Prerna I don't want to listen anything. You can't call off anything like that."
Prerna was always proud that she possessed patience and never lost it anytime but Anurag was used to do things to make her doubt of everything she possessed be it patience or anger. She never thought that she would anyday wish to smack or strangle someone like she felt to do with Anurag. She felt so pissed off right here.
" You Mr Anurag basu. Can you please shut your mouth and listen to me. I'm trying to tell you that I love you but you instead of listening , you would always conclude something else. I want to tell you that I'm in love with you and realized it and for your kind information I'm not calling off any engagement Now " she yelled at top of her voice making all the members of the house to assemble in the hall.
She finally let go of her anger and looked around to see all the members of the house looking at her with puzzled expressions. Anurag's father gave her a teasing look and she looked down embarrassed.

All of sudden, Anurag had pulled her into a tight hug and wrapped his arms around her " I love you too my miss feisty " and placed a kiss onto her hair.
" cough, cough " nivdheta basu made the noise which disturbed them.
" Anurag and prerna, it's not the place to romance. You have a room, if you want you can make good use of it for your pda "
" thank you di " Anurag had pulled Prerna and took her to his room leaving the family in shock.
Prerna was stunned by his audacity. Did he just hold her hand in front of the family and brought her inside the room.
" Anurag.. What are you doing? " Prerna asked him as he had brought his lips very close to hers.
" punishing you for avoiding me all this days . You don't have any idea that how much of self control it did take to stay away from you " He captured her lips into a passionate kiss when all of sudden the door flung open and mohini basu entered and she gasped as she witnessed the scenario.1

" Onu " his mother's voice , made him pull apart from Prerna and he looked at his mother who looked bewildered.
" damn, how did I forgot to lock the door? " Anurag muttered in a low voice but Prerna and mohini both heard it. Prerna face turned into Red shade and looked away. Mohini basu was not able to handle the shock that her son was not as innocent as she thought, he did have a very passionate side.

" Prerna your parents have arrived and don't enter the house before the marriage Now " mohini said as Prerna moved away from the room.
" and onu , you're not supposed to meet her till your official engagement or marriage " mohini sternly warned Anurag who shook his head positively.

From that day, she and Anurag had only talked only in phone. Though they would sometimes manage to escape from everyone and go on dates but still they rarely could spend time. Recently Anurag had grabbed huge international deal for the basu industries and here was celebration for it. Mohini aunty had come to the house invited her family and also behaved cordially with her. She informed that Anurag would pick her to the venue as there was a important announcement to be done regarding the marriage. To her surprise, mohini aunty had given the dress which Anurag selected for her to wear for the party.

" preru " her mother's voice distributed her.
" haa maa, aayi " she responded. The sky had been cloudy and now it started raining. For getting everything she stood looking at the rain when she heard some sound which caught her attention and she turned around to find him.
" Anurag.. " she muttered his name as she found him locking the door and he walked towards her. Her heart fluttered as he closed the distance between them.
" you look so eternal in this dress , can't we cancel the party and marry each other now " he enveloped her in his arms.
" I missed you so much. Our marriage date is still one week away. How will I survive? We will be kept under more strict eyes " he cupped her face. She felt sad knowing that he was telling truth. This was their last meet together before marriage.
She brought herself close to him and nudged her nose with his " I will miss you too". She brought her lips to his and they kissed this time forgetting everything around. Nor the door's knock nor her mother's voice was heard.
