Prologue
He picked her up in bridal style and started walking around the fire which he himself had lit. He looked so serious and sure of what he is doing. Perhaps he had never felt so sure and confident of himself before this. He somehow knew this was right, whatever he was doing was absolutely right. The villagers were bewildered for having witnessed such a scene. A foreign man marrying a village belle, one who was accused of deceiving people for money. A gold digger was what they had called the girl in the the foreigner's arms.Bewildered would be an understatement. Anything and everything was nothing compared to what she was feeling in his arms right now. What surprised her the most was the ways she circled her arms around his neck and the way, so perfect and beautiful, she fitted into his arms. 'A couple made in heaven' was what anyone would say looking at their current state. Well, there was so harm in imagining it, is there ?1Busy in her thoughts, she never realised when the handsome long haired foreigner went around the fire with her in his arms thus marrying her. They were now man and wife.He put her down and faced the villagers. "Lo ban gayi yeh meri patni. Ab yeh mera mamla hai aur mere mamlo mein dakhal andazi karne ka koi hak nahi hai tum logo ko. Toh chalo ab jao yeha se." (Well, she's my wife and now it's my matter. You people have no right to interfere in my matters. So go from here.) He told the villagers in firm tone."Tu pachtaye ga. Bohot pachtaye ga." (You'll suffer. You'll suffer a lot.) said the villagers and then went away. She could not believe that she was now a married woman. Married to a handsome man who saved her life. She owed her everything to him."Lo tum ab ja sakti ho." ( You can go now.) Her trance broke when he said something though she could not follow. She learned that they had walked quite a long way from the village."Kya kaha aapne?" ( What did you say?) she asked."Kyun sunainahi deta. Maine kaha ke tum ab ja sakti ho." ( Are you short of hearing? I said you can go.) He repeated."Yeh kya bol rahe hai? Aapne humse shadi..." ( What are you saying? You married me..) She protested."Wait a minute. Tumhe kya lagta hai ke maine waha jo kiya, you know tumhare maang mein mera khon and woh phere woh sab asli the? Haha. Good joke. Let me tell you main tumse shadi toh dur tumhari shakal tak nahi dekhna chahta..... Main tum jaise aurato se nafrat karta hoon jo sirf paiso ke liye dusro ka ghar todh saake yaha tak ki unka khoon bhi kar saake." ( Wait a minute. If you think all those rituals are for real then you're mistaken. I don't don't even want to see you bloody face. I hate Women like you breake homes of people just for money and can even murder them.) He said raged. She held his hand to plead. "Aap Aisa kyun.... ahhh" ( why are you....ahh) He jerked his hand from her grip and she fell on the ground."Main tumse nafrat karta hoon. Nafrat." ( I hate you.)She lifted her head to witness his retreating figure. He was gone. Perhaps for forever. He came with the wind and went with the wind and just like a wind, he too created a storm. A storm within her. A storm of emotions. She knew he was sent by her Shankerji for her. He indeed was the one for her.Story Writer: _Sayari_

Finally after the long and tiring train journey she reached Mumbai. Mumbai - the city of dreams. She dreamt of being big but realised that one's dream should not be so big that one is unable to catch it. For Gauri the same thing happened. She thought of all the happening till now - from the time she was a young frail yet lively girl of five to just the previous moment. She let out a deep sigh. Her trance broke when she heard the raised voices of her husband and her father in law. Both of them were again busy showing down to each other, fighting like a snake and a mongoose. She hated the fights between the father and the son but could she blame anyone? Weren't they both right in their own places?Gauri liked Jahnvi a lot. She was the motherly figure she had always longed for. Though she had a mother, yet Gauri was the one who always had to mother her mother and she had no one to complain to.Although, the centre of attention of the fights was her mother-in-law, Gauri pitied the woman. She was trapped between the love for her husband and her son. She loved her husband so much so that, when his adultery was caught, being depressed, she tried to commit suicide by burning herself alive. On the other hand, her elder son was the apple of her eyes, her pride, her everything. Jahnvi Tej Singh Oberoi was a torn woman, a woman who was hurt and used as a doormat by the person she loved the most, to no bounds.Clearing all her thoughts away, Gauri decided to head downstairs to see what was going on in the hall of Oberoi mansion at this late hour of the night. She put the ice water on the bedside table and quickly making the bed for her husband, she quietly went downstairs. In the Hall"C'mon Omkara. Why don't you just understand? You must join the family business at any cost." Tej tried to make his elder son understand in a calmer tone."Mr. Oberoi, exactly how many do I have to repeat myself? Why don't you just f**king understand that I'm not bothered and could never care any lesser than right now for you damn business." Omkara said enraged."Shut up, you unwanted piece of shit. I thought make by even after all these years you would be of some use to me. But look at you, useless from the f***ing day you were born."Om remained silent."It's true Omkara, whatever your father said. Why don't you just join the family business and solve all the problems? This would prevent the daily fights at least if not anything. Plus your future will be secured-""Stop it, Mom. What's wrong with you? You were not like this. God, you supported me. You were the one who encouraged me to pursue my dreams, to become what I want, to do what I want to with my life." Om said shocked."Well yes. And now I realise that it was one of the greatest mistakes of my life just like mistrusting Tej and siding with you." Jahnvi replied. The rest of the family along with Omkara was shocked as they witnessed Jahnvi entwining her fingers with her husband. While the rest were trying hard to digest the scene, Tej smirked. All his efforts finally started giving results.

"But Mom, how could you say this? You were, are and always will be my strongest support yet you.." said Om hurt."Supporting you was my biggest mistake. I supported you, mistrusted Tej, and did what not for I was blinded by you. For someone like you, I mistrusted my husband, my everything, my Tej." Jahnvi said, disgusted."How could you take his side, Mom? Have you forgotten what he did to you? To me? To Rudy? To Prinku? To US?" Om said, confused and angry."No I have not and I neither will. I accept Tej and I had issues with our marital life but now they are over. We have talked and solved our problems and now I realise that he had always been an innocent soul. It was Svetlana who forced him, who blabkmailed him. Had it not been so, Tej would never have even thought of devorcing me. I had been a fool to see the way you saw the situation and think like a fool. I was so wrong. I am glad our issues have been solved and I won't ever let him go, again." said Jahnvi. She entwined her fingers more firmly with that of Tej's and Om cringed at the sight. It was enough for Om to take. His mother was the most important person to him, next to his brothers and to see her side with the person he hated the most, who made not only his life but the lives of each and every member of his family, nothing less than a living hell, was making his blood boil like anything.Unable to control this time, he marched towards his father and gripped his collar tightly. "How dare you manipulate my mother?" Turning towards his mother, "I know Mom he has forced to behave like this but don't be afraid. Your Om is here. There's nothing you need to be afraid of.""Om! Leave your father at once! How dare you hold his collar? How dare you talk to him like that? Don't forget who he is!" Jahnvi lost her cool this time.Tej did not try to protest. He did not put any effort to remove Om's hand off his collar. He just stood there, as a mere spectator, like the other family members. He just wanted to see how deep this goes, how far the mother-son duo could carry on with their melodrama."I have not forgotten who he is and I never shall. How can ever forget the b*stard he is! Tell me, how can I?" Om chuckled.A beautifully manicured hand landed on his face."Oh My Mata!" Pinky exclaimed."Badi Ma, how could..." Shivay tired to speak this time, to take Om's side. But Om raised a hand to stop Shivay and he did. He knew Om needed to handle it on his own.Om lifted his face and a deep cut was seen on the corner of his lips, the effect of Jahnvi's heavy rings.Jahnvi regretted her deed but the milk was already spilt. There was no turning back from this. They already were too deep into this. But she knew she had to do this. All his life, Om had done whatever he could, to make her life a bit better in his own little ways. And now it was payback time. She needed to do this for him. There indeed was no turning back.Tej, on the other hand, was amazed at the fact how amazing an actor his wife was. Had he known this, he wouldn't have to wait this long for what he wanted to achieve. Nevertheless, as the saying goes 'it's better late than never.' Indeed, it was true.Unknown to others, for Gauri, who was hiding behind the pillars, it was all very confusing. Somehow, Jahnvi's actions did not seem to justified. Something was definitely wrong. But what? Nothing seemed to flash in that small brain of hers. She looked around to see that the servants had already started gathering though they managed to keep themselves out of the Oberois' sights. She mustered up all the courage she could and stood among the Oberoi clan but maintained some distance. She tried to read the reactions of various people of the family to get even the slightest hint she could for all the happenings of the previous minute was very suspicious and confusing to her. When Om lifted his face with a hand on the cheek on which his mother had slapped him, Jahnvi delivered the last few sentences of her script. "You are a disgrace to me, to your father and to the family. I cannot live under the same roof as you. So leave the mansion right now or I will."With that, Jahnvi turned her heels and went up the stairs, tears rolling down her cheeks. If not others, she and the Almighty knew that whatever she did was for the betterment of her son.Tej smirked and went away as well. He realised besides being the great businessman the world claims him to be, he could definately try out his luck as a script writer for dramas. He knew he would be successful even then. The rest of the family retired when Om stopped ShivRu as they tried to control him.All were gone. Only Gauri and Omkara was left.Never had she seen her Omkaraji so vulnerable.
